Atharvaa's Idhayam Murali continued its steady run at the box office on its first Tuesday, taking its worldwide gross close to the Rs 18 crore mark despite the expected weekday slowdown.
According to the latest trade figures, the romantic drama collected Rs 1.23 crore net in India on Day 5 (Tuesday) across 1,426 shows, recording an overall occupancy of 22 per cent. The film's cumulative India net collection has now reached Rs 11.93 crore, while its India gross stands at Rs 3.72 crore. With Rs 4 crore already coming from overseas markets, the film's worldwide gross has climbed to Rs 17.72 crore after five days in theatres.
After opening with Rs 1.90 crore net on Friday, Idhayam Murali witnessed healthy weekend growth, collecting Rs 3.50 crore on Saturday and Rs 3.80 crore on Sunday. As expected, collections dipped to Rs 1.50 crore on Monday before easing further to Rs 1.23 crore on Tuesday—a day-on-day decline of around 18 per cent, indicating a fairly stable weekday hold.
Tamil Nadu continues to dominate the film's box office performance, contributing Rs 11.90 crore of the total India gross. Karnataka remains the second-best-performing territory with Rs 1.18 crore, followed by Kerala with Rs 0.36 crore. The film has also earned Rs 0.23 crore from the rest of India and Rs 0.05 crore from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.
While Idhayam Murali has been competing with the second-week run of Vishnu Vishal's Gatta Kusthi 2, it has managed to sustain a respectable theatrical run of its own. The film also stars Preity Mukhundhan, Kayadu Lohar, Natty, composer Thaman S, Niharika NM, Sudhakar of Parithabangal fame, Yashashree Rao, singer Jonita Gandhi, and Anju Kurian, among others. The film has music composed by Thaman, cinematography handled by Manoj Paramahamsa and CH Sai and editing by Pradeep E Ragav.
