Actor Trisha took to social media to pay tribute to singer S Janaki, who passed away late on Saturday at the age of 88. Janaki was featured alongside the actor in 96 (2018), in last on-screen appearance.

"Carrying your name in one of my most special films will forever be one of the greatest honours of my life. But knowing you and being loved by you is something I’ll cherish forever. Thank you for your hugs, your kindness, your laughter and for always reminding me that the greatest artists are the humblest souls. Your voice will live forever. Rest peacefully Janaki Amma. I will miss you terribly," wrote Trisha, through her Instagram handle.

Legendary singer S Janaki passes away at 88

S Janaki's scenes in 96 (2018) was deleted from the theatrical cut of the film, but was later released online. In the film, when Ram (Vijay Sethupathi) and Janaki (Trisha) take a stroll in Chennai the happen upon S Janaki who invites the pair into their home. With the character Janaki being a singer and an ardent fan of her namesake, she asks for some advice from S Janaki, and so goes the scene.

S Janaki passed away in Mysuru due to age related health issues. After experiencing a cardiac arrest early on Saturday, she was admitted to a hospital. Her granddaughter Apsara announced the news of her passing.
