Double Occupancy, the latest Tamil fantasy romantic-comedy film starring Santhosh, Reshma Venkatesh, Samyuktha Viswanathan, and Vinoth Kishan, has now premiered on OTT. The film, helmed by Aswin Kandasamy, the film hit theatres on June 12 and opened to largely positive reviews.
The story follows Rajini (Santhosh), who lives their life as a female during the daytime and a male at night. However, concealing the truth about their life from their partners comes with a set of complications for Rajini. The film has marked the debut of writer-director Aswin Kandasamy and Santhosh's first film in a lead role.
Double Occupancy is now available to stream on Prime Video. The film also stars VTV Ganesh, Bagavathi Perumal, Bose Venkat, Vichu Vishwanath, and Vinodhini Vaidyanathan, among others.
An excerpt from CE's review of the film reads, "The best parts of the film are when it embraces the impossible and trusts us to keep up. It is smart enough not to overexplain and entertaining enough to keep us from asking too many questions. But by the time the credits roll, what remains isn’t confusion about the rules of the universe but a lingering feeling that the world deserved a more fulfilling checkout."
On the technical front, Double Occupancy features cinematography by Santhakumar Chakravarthy, editing by Praveen Antony and music composed by Sam CS. At the film's success meet, producer Khushbu Sundar, who has also appeared in a cameo role in the film, said discussions are underway for a Hindi remake of the film.
Khusbhu has produced the film under the Avni Cinemax banner, with ACS Arun Kumar producing under the Benzz Media banner. Anandita Sundar, daughter of Khushbu, served as a creative producer.
