Earlier today, we reported about Tamil Nadu State Film Awards being announced for the years starting from 2016 and ending in 2022 at once. Some of the winners thanked the government for presenting them with the awards. Dhanush, who won Best Actor for his performance in 2018's Vada Chennai, called it "a true honor" and congratulated the rest of the awardees. On the other hand, R Parthiban made a note of the number of awards his films won, besides his own personal recognitions. He won Best Supporting Actor for 2016's Maaveeran Kittu as well as Best Actor and Best Director for 2019's Oththa Seruppu Size 7. Besides, Parthiban's directorial Iravin Nizhal won in five categories: Best Film (Special Prize), a posthumous Best Comedy Actor for Robo Shankar, Best Cinematographer for R Arthur Wilson, and Best Playback Singer male and female for Haricharan and Khatija Rahman, respectively.
In his humorous post, Parthiban highlighted his long journey in the film industry and said that participating with other, younger talents itself brings joy to him.
Meanwhile, Dushara Vijayan expressed her gratitude to the government for recognising her performance in 2022's Natchathiram Nagargiradhu with a Best Actress (Special Prize) award. "To be recognised by the Tamil Nadu Government, by the land that raised my dreams and shaped my art, is an honour I will carry with humility and pride," Dushara wrote. The actor also acknowledged the recognition for 2021's Sarpatta Parambarai, which won Best Actor for Arya and Best Actor (Special Prize) for Pasupathy.
"This journey was never mine alone. These films were born from collective courage, trust and love for cinema, for stories that matter and for truth," Dushara wrote. She also thanked her co-stars, technicians, directors, and the award jury. "You made space for me to grow, to stumble, to rise and to believe. To my fellow award winners your work inspires challenges and reminds us why cinema matters. Congratulations to each one of you," she shared. The actor also thanked her fans for their love and support over the years. "Your love fuels my fire," she wrote while acknowledging that the award is only part of her journey and not the destination itself.
At the same time, Ranjit Jeyakodi expressed his delight at the wins for his directorial debut, 2016's Puriyatha Puthir: Best Music Director for Sam CS, Best Actor for Vijay Sethupathi, and Best Film (Second Prize).
Vishnu Vishal, meanwhile, shared the striking coincidence of getting his first recognition at the Tamil Nadu State Film Awards on the day he completed his 17-year-journey in cinema. "My first ever award on the same day I complete 17 years in the industry. Sincere thanks to the Government of Tamil Nadu for the Best Actor - Special Jury Award for Ratsasan. It is an honour and for a film that I will always cherish. Thank you for all the love that you keep giving me," the actor wrote.
Meanwhile, GV Prakash kept his note of gratitude concise. "Best music director Tamil Nadu state awards for 2020. Grateful. Thanks team Soorarai Pottru," the composer-actor wrote.
