

The family of Singer Janaki has released a statement following the death of the singer's son, Murali Krishna. On January 22, Murali Krishna passed away due to a cardiac arrest.
Apsara Vydyula, the daughter of Murali Krishna, and granddaughter of Janaki, said, "I, Apsara Vydyula, granddaughter of veteran playback singer Smt S Janaki, confirm with deep sorrow the passing of my father, Shri Vydyula Murali Krishna, on January 22, 2026, at 12:55 am, in Mysuru, following treatment for a prolonged illness."
She added, "Shri Murali Krishna was a devoted son, a constant pillar of strength and support to Smt Janaki, and a gifted musician in his own right. He was surrounded by family and well-wishers at the time of his passing. His last rites were conducted in the presence of family."
Apsara addressed the health of Janaki by writing, "He is deeply mourned by all of us, and we request privacy and understanding as we grieve this irreparable loss. Even as Smt S Janaki mourns her son’s demise, she is in good health and is being supported by her family, friends, and well wishers."
Addressing the rumours, she said, "The family has been made aware of certain malicious rumours and factually incorrect information being circulated by individuals outside our immediate family circle. We strongly condemn the spread of such misinformation and urge the public and media to refrain from speculation and unverified reporting."
