Director Dhirav's Mellisai, starring Kishore, will get a theatrical release on January 30. The makers gave the release update on Friday.

The makers have dropped two singles from the film so far: 'Vaarthai Thani Thani' and 'Muthal Mottu'. The director announcing the release update post wrote, "After years of passionate hard work and commitment...here we are to spread love and positivity."

Speaking about the film to CE, Kishore had said that the story of Mellisai revolves around a chance opportunity for a middle-aged person to pursue the passion he dreamt of as a youngster. He said, "I found the question of ‘What if you get a shot at your 20s dreams when you are on the doorstep of 40s' as a fascinating premise. People usually ditch their passion and shift their attention to survival. ‘Do you have it in you to throw away your comfortable life and risk jeopardising the security of your family for the dream you once saw?’ This is what Mellisai deals with in an entertaining and relatable manner."

The film marks the third film of Dhirav, who made his directorial debut in Veppam Kulir Mazhai (2024) and his sophomore Dopamine @2.22 in 2025. Kishore was last seen in Indian Penal Law (IPL), directed by Karunanithi.

With Subatra Robert, known for her roles in Pariyerum Perumal, Jai Bhim, and Bommai Nayagi, as the female lead, the film's ensemble cast includes George Mariyan, Harish Uthaman, Jaswant Manikandan, Dhananya, Proactive Prabakar, Samson, Kannan Bharati, and others.

The rest of Mellisai's technical team consists of cinematographer Devaraj Pugazhendi, stunts by Stunner Sam, and art direction by Deevan Paul and Prem. Dhirav, like in his previous films, will also be penning the lyrics in the movie. He is also producing the film under the Hashtag FDFS banner.
