Reports suggest that Vaa Vaathiyaar may face yet another legal contention as a Karur based law firm has filed a plea at the Madras High Court to prevent the release of both Tamil and Telugu versions of the film. Vaa Vaathiyaar, directed by Nalan Kumaraswamy and starring Karthi in the lead, is currently set to release on January 14.
While the reason for the plea is unknown, Dhanesh Associates from Karur filed the plea before the High Court. Justice Senthilkumar Ramamoorthy will hear the case on Monday, January 12.
The film's release has been long held under contention due to the producer KE Gnanavel Raja's finance troubles. The film which was set to release on December 5, 2025 was later pushed to December 12, 2025, after which its release was postponed due to the Madras HC directing the producer to repay his dues of more that Rs 21 crores, that was initially borrowed.
Vaa Vaathiyaar also stars Krithi Shetty, Sathyaraj, Raj Kiran, Madhur Mittal, among others. Santhosh Narayanan, who previously composed for Nalan's Soodhu Kavvum (2013) and Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum (2016), is composing music for Vaa Vaathiyaar.
