The Malaysian distributor for Vijay-starrer Jana Nayagan, Malik Streams, announced that the film's release will be postponed, from its initially planned date of January 9. The postponement comes on the heels of the Madras High Court hearing, which was held after an appeal was filed by Jana Nayagan's producer, KVN Productions, challenging the CBFC's move to review the film's certification
Posting through their X handle, the distribution house wrote, "Due to unforeseen circumstances, the initial release of Jana Nayagan, scheduled for 9 January 2026, has been postponed to a later date. We are currently awaiting further updates from the production team. Once the new release date is confirmed, official announcements will be shared through our authorized platforms. In the meantime, we sincerely request all fans and supporters to remain patient and positive. Kindly refrain from spreading or engaging with unverified or misleading information from any unofficial sources."
They also stated, "Several arrangements are still in progress, and we humbly seek your understanding and cooperation. Let us stay united and approach this situation calmly and responsibly as we await a positive resolution. Thank you for your continued support."
Meanwhile, the postponement of Jana Nayagan's release, in India, hasn't been announced. While the judgement of the hearing is supposed to be delivered on January 9, the date of the film's release, the Madras High Court hasn't announced an official date.
