Jana Nayagan, starring actor Vijay, has opened advance bookings on a strong note, collecting around Rs 15 crore in worldwide pre-sales, with a week to go for its January 9 release. With advance bookings open to selected theatres across Kerala and Karnataka, the film has collected around Rs 3 crore so far in India, with a rapid rise expected once sales open to Tamil Nadu and other regions of India.
In the overseas markets, Jana Nayagan has posted phenomenal numbers, gaining Rs 11-12 crore in opening-day pre-sales, largely driven by North America, the United Kingdom and Australia. Markets expect the advance business to cross Rs 50 crore worldwide once bookings open across all regions, with the buzz further strengthened as Vijay has billed it as his final film before he becomes a full-time politician.
Billed as a political action thriller, Jana Nayagan sees Vijay essaying the titular role and boasts an ensemble cast which includes Pooja Hegde, Bobby Deol, Mamitha Baiju, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain and Priyamani in pivotal parts. Produced by KVN Productions, the film has Anirudh Ravichander composing the music, with Sathyan Sooryan handling the cinematography and Pradeep E Ragav handling the edits.
Jana Nayagan is directed by H Vinoth; his previous film as a director was his directorial debut, Sathuranga Vettai (2014). He went on to direct the critically acclaimed Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru (2017) along with Nerkonda Paarvai (2019), Valimai (2022), and Thunivu (2023).
