Earlier, we reported about the battle between Vijay's Jana Nayagan and Sivakarthikeyan's Parasakthi becoming more intense following the change in the latter's release date, thus setting up a direct box office clash between both films. It seems like the battle has extended to the pre-release marketing strategies, including their audio launch events. Last night, the makers of the Sivakarthikeyan starrer announced that its audio launch would become available on Sun TV from 3:00 pm on January 04, the same day it is set to take place at Sairam Engineering College in Chennai. On the same Sunday, the Jana Nayagan audio launch event would also become available from 4:30 pm on ZEE5. Considering the fact that ZEE5 announced the news about Jana Nayagan's audio launch earlier, the decision about Sun TV broadcasting the Parasakthi audio launch does not seem like a mere coincidence.
Some netizens claim that there is a political strategy involved in this, since Sun Network's owner Kalanithi Maran and his family have a connection with DMK and because the party is a rival of Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam. Recently, Vijay called DMK his party's main rival in the state. The actor and the party leader has also made incisive comments about DMK, including describing the latter as an "evil force".
The netizens echo the sentiment that the decision to broadcast the Parasakthi audio launch in a way that it coincides with Jana Nayagan's event is a political ploy. Many X accounts, including those claiming to be Vijay fans, have posted hate comments and memes under Sun TV's announcement post. The comments also seem to stem from the fact that Kalanithi Maran has produced Vijay starrers Beast and Sarkar under his Sun Pictures banner. "Let us abandon Sun TV and Parasakthi," is a sentiment that is being shared among Vijay's loyal supporters. Some of the internet users are also mocking the network for posting a promo for an event that is yet to take place.
