We had previously reported that actor Jai's upcoming film will be Sattendru Maarudhu Vaanilai, helmed by debut director Babu Vijay. The makers have now dropped the first single from the film. Titled 'Akkadi', the song has been sung by veteran composer-singer Deva with lyrics by Girishh Gopalakrishnan (who is also the composer) and MS Krsna. The song is set in a bar with energetic music complementing the vocals.
In an earlier interview with Cinema Express, the director revealed details about the film, saying, "The film is a romantic thriller where the protagonist mistakenly gets trapped in the web of crime and ends up incarcerated. The film will be a combination of the sensibilities of a Vetri Maaran film, a Murugadoss film and a Mani Ratnam film."
Explaining the reason behind the title, he said that the screenplay is divided into chapters, with each chapter titled after changes in weather, alluding to changes in circumstances. He says his confidence in the script grew after his mentor AR Murugadoss, under whom he worked as an assistant director in films such as Sarkar (2018) and Darbar (2019), responded positively.
The film, which has Meenakshi Govindharajan as the female lead, also stars Garuda Ram, Yogi Babu, Sriman, and Kathir.
On the technical team, Sattendru Maarudhu Vaanilai has cinematography by Richard M Nathan, editing by Darling Richardson, art direction by Kannan, and stunts by Murali G.
A release date for the film is yet to be finalised.
