Actor Trisha Krishnan, issued an official statement over defammatory comments made by Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) chief Nainar Nagendran to the press. Through her X handle, the actor posted a statement which was issued by her advocate on behalf of her.
The letter stated that she does not want her name being used in such a ‘'distasteful’' manner and that ''she has always taken a neutral stand when it comes to politics''. Further, the letter stated that personal lives should never be made the subject of public commentary or discourse. “Disrespect should and always will be called out,” Trisha wrote in the caption of the post.
In a recent press meet on Saturday, Nainar Nagendran spoke about actor Trisha, associating her with actor-politician Vijay, in a deregatory manner. ''First tell him (Vijay) to step out of his house. Only if he breaks free from his association with Trisha will he be able to see reality. He needs to fix his family relations before trying to lead a state,'' said Nagendran.
Fans expressed their outrage on social media, over the derogatory remarks made by Nainar Nagendran whereas DMK MP Kanimozhi called it ''uncivilized''.
Vijay and Trisha shared the screen together in movies like Ghilli (2004), Kuruvi (2008), Thirupaachi (2005), Leo (2023).
