On Wednesday, composer Santhosh Narayanan posted a video where he can be seen interacting with Mannar Muthu. In it, when Mannar Muthu asked Santhosh what he was going to do, the latter told him that he would create an unplugged version for their recently released track Mannaru, as the song has become a hit. Santhosh playfully suggested it as his way of boasting about the success of the track. Then, he proceeded to play what he described as an "Oppari" version of the song.
Interestingly, netizens interpreted Santhosh Narayanan's post as a calculated dig at Sai Abhyankkar, who is also known for posting unplugged versions of his own songs after these become popular among audiences. Following 24 hours of speculation and plenty of hate comments, Santhosh offered a clarification on his post.
Taking to the comments section of the post, the composer wrote, "To one and all gathered here... my video was a humorous self dig at a desperate attempt to have an unplugged version. Not aimed at anyone else or Sai. I love his music and support it. Also when my dig is aimed at someone, it will be pretty apparent with names."
Composer Sean Roldan also supported Santhosh and his character after the hate comments against the latter started to include him as hashtags. Taking to X, Sean wrote, "I generally don’t read comments, but some people are tagging me(followed by cuss words). So I thought I need to clarify! Knowing santy for so many years I know that there was just happy banter and no hate in this post. We should all learn to take a joke. And I want to underline that between us artistes there are differences of opinion but absolutely no hate. I drink from the well of love, and I ask everyone to just chill!"
