Two days ahead of its release, the Rishikanth-Anishma Anilkumar starrer Modha Rathri has received a U/A certificate from the Censor Board. With the censorship clearance, the film has taken one more step towards achieving its scheduled release. The film is written and directed by Raja Karuppasamy in his directorial debut. It is produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar under the Mythri Movie Makers banner.

The makers describe Modha Rathri as a film that revolves around "the most entertaining and chaotic wedding." Its cast includes Chetan, A Venkatesh, Bagavathi Perumal, Abdool Lee, Shelly Kishore, Sangeetha Balan, Banupriya, Sumithra Devi L, Varshini Karmegham, Karthikeyan, Velan, and Kowshik Kabilan, among others.

Advance reservations also started for Modha Rathri earlier this Wednesday. "You are cordially invited to the most chaotic wedding. Reserve your seats," wrote Mythri Movie Makers in the announcement post on social media.

On the technical front, the film has composer Bharath Sankar, cinematographer Surendran Paranjothi, editor Ashok Arjunan, production designer A Balumahendra, and costume designer Poornima Ramaswamy.

The rural comedy drama marks the third production venture of Mythri Movie Makers in Tamil, the first two being the Ajith Kumar starrer Good Bad Ugly and the Pradeep Ranganathan headliner Dude. AGS Entertainment has come on board as the distributor for the film ahead of its August 21 release. At some point after its theatrical release, the film is expected to be available on Netflix.
