Actor Nayanthara went to the Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Tirupati with her filmmaker husband Vignesh Shivan earlier this year. Now, images of the actor with her head shaved off are going viral on the internet. These images are doing the rounds with viral claims such as "Nayanthara visits Tirumala Temple ahead of Toxic's release" and so forth. However, these are edited photographs.
As evident in the original photographs from the couple's Tirupati visit, Nayanthara's head is not shaved, but it has been edited out in the now-trending images. Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan are yet to release a formal statement on the act of internet manipulation.
Earlier this year, the celebrity couple had the spiritual sojourn ahead of the release of Vignesh's film Love Insurance Kompany in theatres. Starring Pradeep Ranganathan in the lead role, LIK earned 60 crore at the box office, according to data from the tracker Sacnilk.
The film is not regarded as a box office success, as it is made on a reported budget of around 100 crore. It has become the first film in Pradeep Ranganathan's career to not cross the 100-crore mark at the box office. However, Vignesh Shivan called it "a blockbuster the moment it released in theatres."
At the time, Vignesh hit back at critics who gave negative reviews for the film on social media. He said that they wrote the reviews to discourage audiences from watching the film in theatres. The filmmaker said that it hurted him to see "how quickly the narrative shifted after a promising opening weekend". Vignesh also called it an earnest Tamil film that tried to be "different, complete, and original deserved a little more generosity from its audience."
Coming back to Nayanthara, the actor is awaiting the August 26 release of Toxic, co-starring Yash, Kiara Advani, Rukmini Vasanth, Huma Qureshi, and Tara Sutaria, among others. Her immediate releases also include Hi with Kavin and director Vishnu Edavan.
