Producer Sithara Entertainments revealed earlier this Sunday that its latest film, directed by Venky Atluri and starring Suriya and Mamitha Baiju in the lead roles, has grossed more than 100 crore from theatres worldwide. Revealing the news, the production banner wrote, "Vishwanath and Sons hits it out of the park and smashes a 100cr+ in just 2 days. #BlockbusterVAS running successfully in cinemas near you."
Vishwanath and Sons marks the second consecutive 100-crore-grosser for Suriya in 2026 alone. Earlier this year, his film Karuppu, starring him with director-actor RJ Balaji, grossed more than 300 crore at the global box office. It is worth noting that the film has reportedly managed to break Karuppu's opening collection record for Suriya. According to reports, while Karuppu crossed the 100-crore mark in three days of its release, VAS has managed to do so in a day less. This makes it the fastest Suriya starrer to enter the 100-crore club.
The box office performance of the film underscores Suriya's growing impact on the audience. Following the blockbuster success of Karuppu, several fans and even celebrities opined that he would have a nonstop stream of hits in the future. For example, Retro director Karthik Subbaraj praised Karuppu by calling it a "full on theatrical blast" and opining that "Suriya sir's God mode is pure FIRE" before adding, "Now on ..... No Stopping for The ONE!!"
Coming back to Vishwanath and Sons, the film also stars Radikaa Sarathkumar, Raveena Tandon, Bhavani Sre, Kaali Venkat, and Anarkali Marikar, among others. Its technical team includes composer GV Prakash, cinematographer Nimish Ravi, editor Navin Nooli, and production designer Banglan. The film is produced by Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya, under the banners of Sithara Entertainments, Fortune Four Cinemas, and Srikara Studios.
