Kavin and Nayanthara's upcoming film Hi, directed by lyricist-turned-director Vishnu Edavan has generated significant buzz since its announcement, especially with its cast and unique romantic setting. While the film is slated for an August 14 release in theatres worldwide, latest reports suggest that the romantic drama might be postponed from the said date.
With promotions beyond interviews sparse, the makers are eyeing a fresh release with larger plans for Hi's visibility for audiences across the state and elsewhere. Other reports suggested that the film is looking at avoiding a clash with Suriya's much-anticipated Vishwanath & Sons which also releases on the same day. An official confirmation regarding the postponement is awaited from the team.
While plot details are unknown, Hi is expected to be a feel-good, mature neighbours-to-lovers urban romance.
The cast of Hi also includes the late writer-actor Bhagyaraj, Radikaa Sarathkumar, Prabhu, VTV Ganesh, Sathyan, Amrutha Srinivasan, Adithya Kathir, Kureshi, FEFSI Vijayan, Kaavya Arivumani, and Mirchi Kemy. Vishnu Edavan is also an erstwhile assistant of filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj.
Jen Martin is composing music for the film. The crew also includes cinematographer Rajesh Shukla, editor Philomin Raj, art director Sekar B.
Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan are producing the film under their The Rowdy Pictures banner, aalong with SS Lalit Kumar of Seven Screen Studio banner, with Zee Studios also backing the film.
