On Tuesday, marking Malavika Mohanan's birthday, the makers of her next film, Pocket Novel, dropped a video offering a brief look at its making. Directed by Thiagarajan Kumararaja of Aaranya Kaandam and Super Deluxe fame, the film stars Malavika Mohanan as a character named Jeeva. "Team Pocket Novel wishes our one and only Jeeva a very happy birthday," shared producer Tyler Durden and Kino Fist in a post that tagged Malavika. The film also stars Vijay Sethupathi, Raj B Shetty, and Kishore, among others.
The behind-the-scenes video shows Malavika Mohanan having fun on the sets, playfully interacting with her co-stars, child actor Yuvan Krishna, Vijay Sethupathi and Raj B Shetty, and it offers a first look at her character in the film. The clip features Malavika striking intense and graceful poses as Jeeva. It promises a complex and layered character from the actor.
Thiagarajan Kumararaja is known for writing such characters, as evident in the roles played by Yasmin Ponnappa in Aaranya Kaandam and Samantha Ruth Prabhu in Super Deluxe.
In March this year, Malavika described her collaboration with Thiagarajan Kumararaja as her "biggest highlight" of the month. "Unarguably, he is one of the finest filmmakers of our generation. Watching his process, being guided and shaped by him, has been one of the most special creative experiences in my career so," Malavika wrote about Thiagarajan Kumararaja.
Pocket Novel is produced by Thiagarajan himself under the banner Tyler Durden and Kino Fist alongside SD Ezhilmathy, who doubles up as its costume designer as well. On the technical front, the film also has composer Ilaiyaraaja, editor Sathyaraj Natarajan (also an executive producer), cinematographer Nirav Shah of Super Deluxe fame, and stunt director Dhilip Subbarayan.
Tyler Durden and Kino Fist is yet to announce a release date for the film.
