Earlier this Thursday, we reported about Keerthy Suresh's next film with co-star Mysskin being titled Sathyavan Savithiri. Billed as a drama set in a courtroom that has much intensity, the film marks the directorial debut of Praveen S Vijay. Keerthy and Mysskin play lawyers in the film, which also stars Bala Saravanan, Charukesh of Heart Beat fame, and Shilpa Manjunath, among others.
Earlier, debutant Praveen learnt his craft by working with directors such as Vignesh Shivan, Gautham Ramachandran, and Dass Ramasamy. He spoke about the upcoming film, how he happened to cast Keerthy Suresh and Mysskin in it, and more in a recent interview.
Speaking to Cinema Vikatan about how the film started, the director revealed that Aishwarya Rajesh told Keerthy listen to his story, as it is 'good'.
Praveen added that Sathyavan Savithiri has elements of films where the protagonists fight for social justice successfully and of legal dramas, such as Vidhi, where the characters overcome personal issues in the process of seeking justice. The filmmaker said that Keerthy Suresh's character is an ordinary woman who is cheerful and lively whose life turns upside down when she takes up a major case while navigating her own emotional pain.
Speaking about how Keerthy has fared in the film, Praveen said that the actor has put in a natural performance, which 'amazed' him in terms of its subtlety. Recalling his instruction for the actor during production, he said, "I told her, ‘If you had become a lawyer instead of entering cinema, just be as natural as that—be yourself.’"
Speaking further about his lead actor's performance, he said, "I think Mahanati is her benchmark, and in this film, she has reached the next level. She delivers exactly the emotions required, in the right measure. She carries the entire film on her shoulders. From the beginning, her performance keeps rising scene by scene. She holds the emotional core of the film."
