Payal Rajput, who recently played a key role in Legend Saravanan's Leader, broke down on stage while answering questions for her upcoming film First Time 01.01.01. The actor was overwhelmed by emotions that she left the event midway after struggling to control her tears.
Recalling what happened at the event, the actor wrote on her Instagram handle, "I was hit with a wave of emotions at yesterday’s event, leading to a vulnerable moment on stage. It happens, and I’m embracing it."
The actor, who is set to play the female lead in Hemanth's upcoming film, turned emotional at the trailer launch event of the film when a reporter had probed her about attending a Vipassana course recently. She recollected how her family went through a painful time seven to eight months ago when her father was diagnosed with cancer.
She explained how shattered she and her family felt following his demise. Payal said she considers him a hero, and shared how she was unable to figure out what was wrong and right, and was in a dilemma about how to move ahead with life. "On the one hand, I didn't know how to console my mom and on the other, I was struggling to handle my own emotions. And my father, he was the hero of my life," she said as she became teary-eyed at the event.
Payal further went on to say, "Recently, my Punjabi film Khush Khabari got released. Even while on his death bed, he was saying, 'I want to watch this film of yours'."
Stating that her dad was her biggest critic, the actor had said, "Every time my film came out, he was like, 'Oh my gosh, I love your film RX 100. Though it was quite bold, but still, no comments on that. You have played your part and you are a brilliant actor'."
"Those words coming from his mouth meant everything to me," she said, mentioning how it will be soon one year of his death. "Dad has gone. He was waiting for me," she added, even as she broke down and handed over the mike saying, "Sorry, I am sorry."
Although her co-stars and crew members offered tissues and reassurances, Payal struggled to contain her emotions and left the event midway.
Payal is also known for her roles in Venky Mama (2019), Shava Ni Girdhari Lal (2021), Head Bush (2022) and Mangalavaaram (2023).
