Raghava Lawrence has undergone a massive transformation to look like his mentor in the industry, Rajinikanth, in his upcoming film, Kanchana 4. The actor-director can be seen in a look similar to that of Rajinikanth from Kaala in the first look image he shared on his Instagram handle on Monday.
The photos feature him in a black shirt with a white beard and black hair, similar to how Rajinikanth's character was designed in Kaala. Sharing the images, Raghava Lawrence wrote, "Loading" in the caption, tagging all the four Kanchana films. It is thereby speculated as his look in his upcoming directorial.
Besides starring in the film's lead role and producing it, Raghava Lawrence is also directing it from his own screenplay. Kanchana 4 also stars Pooja Hegde, Nora Fatehi, Swaksha Iyer, Devadarshini and Kamalesh Jagan. It marks Nora's Tamil debut. The cast also includes Ramachandra Raju, more popularly called Garuda Ram, and Anand Raj in a role reprisal. Both Garuda Ram and Anand Raj play negative roles in the film.
The makers are yet to reveal any information about the film's plot. Presented by Goldmines Telefilms' Manish Shah and Sun Pictures' Kalanithi Maran, the film has been in production since September. Earlier, Raghava Lawrence revealed that he would use his remuneration for the film to turn his first house into a school.
The entire Kanchana series is directed by Raghava Lawrence and stars him in the lead. The first film in the franchise was Muni (2007), in which he starred alongside Raj Kiran. In 2011, he made Kanchana, an offshoot of the filmmaker's Muni film, which featured Sarath Kumar in a prominent role. It was released with overwhelmingly positive reviews and was a major commercial success at the box office. It was also remade as Laxmii in 2020, headlined by Akshay Kumar. While Kanchana 2 (2015) starred Taapsee Pannu and Nithya Menen in lead roles, Kanchana 3 (2019) had Oviya and Vedhika. Going by the trend, Raghava Lawrence has once again introduced two female leads in Kanchana 4.
