Actor-filmmaker Abishan Jeevinth has made a mark in Tamil cinema, despite being so young in the industry. He first found fame as the director of Tourist Family, starring Sasikumar and Simran, among others. The low-budget film became one of the most highly profitable films of 2025, so much so its producer even presented Abishan with a luxury car. This year, Abishan made his debut as a lead actor with a role in With Love, opposite Anaswara Rajan.
Abishan Jeevinth is now eyeing a return to direction. At a recent event, the actor-filmmaker said that his next directorial venture will be a commercial family entertainer with a big production scale. "I will most likely start the film next year. It will be a family film that everyone can enjoy," Abishan said. The actor-filmmaker added that he will not star in the film. He has not revealed further details about the project.
Abishan's performance in With Love received a mixed response from critics. While critics acknowledged the actor's charm in the role, they also found him and his performance to be requiring more maturity. In our With Love movie review, for instance, Avinash Ramachandran wrote, "Abishan, who is carefree in the school portions, and is wonderful in a scene where he meets his school crush after years together, needs a bit more confidence. While he definitely grows on you as the movie progresses, things would have been better if he hadn’t resorted to shrieks and screeches to establish humour and childish playfulness. But again, it is clear, just like Tourist Family, that Abishan’s strong suit might be the emotional moments, and he’d get the proportions right in future films."
Directed by debutant Madhan, Abishan's Tourist Family assistant director, With Love earned around 40 crore at the box office, according to data from Sacnilk.
