The makers of Hi, directed by Vishnu Edavan and starring Nayanthara and Kavin in the lead roles, announced earlier this Saturday that its first single, titled 'Kannakuzhiya,' will release on April 21, Tuesday. Interestingly, composer-actor GV Prakash is part of the track as a singer. The makers teased the update earlier today with a post, asking people to wait for "a sweet surprise" this evening.
The makers made the announcement with a video where Kavin can be seen entering a room, alongside the film's director Vishnu and composer Jen Martin, and asking the composer to sing a track for their film. In the caption for the announcement, Kavin thanked the composer-actor for the 'help'. "Thanks for the udhavi (help) GV Prakash sir," the actor wrote.
Notably, the song has lyrics by director Vishnu Edavan himself. The promo for the song will drop on Sunday morning.
GV Prakash has multiple credits as a playback singer, ranging from the Thiruda Thiruda title track to 'OG Sambavam' in Good Bad Ugly. On the other hand, Vishnu Edavan's credits as a lyricist include 'Badass' from Leo, 'Porkonda Singam' from Vikram, and 'Polakatum Para Para' from Master.
The film is produced by Umesh Kumar Bansal of ZEE Studios, Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan under their banner The Rowdy Pictures, and SS Lalit Kumar of Seven Screen Studio. It has Vinoth CJ and KS Mayilvaganan as co-producers.
Besides Nayanthara and Kavin, the film stars Bhagyaraj, Radikaa Sarathkumar, Prabhu, VTV Ganesh, Sathyan, Amrutha Srinivasan, Adithya Kathir, Kureshi, FEFSI Vijayan, Kaavya Arivumani, and Mirchi Kemy. The film's technical team also includes cinematographer Rajesh Shukla and editor Philomin Raj.
The makers of Hi are yet to announce a release date. According to recent reports, it is slated for an April release.
