Director Vignesh Shivan is awaiting the April 10 release of Love Insurance Kompany (LIK), starring Pradeep Ranganathan, SJ Suryah, Krithi Shetty, and Gouri Kishan. The film marks his comeback as a director after 2022's Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kaadhal. It has been a long wait for him since then.
Recently, he talked about taking inspiration from India cricketer Sanju Samson's journey with the national team. Speaking to anchor Gobinath, Vignesh talked about how Sanju was on the fringes of the Indian cricket team at the start of the recently concluded T20I World Cup, carrying drinks for his teammates. "It was not even sure whether he would get a chance to play, but he was doing net practice. What conviction!"
Vignesh Shivan added that he got 'goosebumps' watching Sanju make his return into the team and have an immediate impact, with three back-to-back fifties that resulted in the World Cup win for the team.
"I have been following his journey since he was playing for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL. I used to talk about his performances with a friend," Vignesh said about a player who is now part of Chennai Super Kings.
The filmmaker also said that Sanju's comeback that resulted in the World Cup win for India and the Player of the Tournament award for him is inspirational. "It is proof that everyone has such a moment in life. It gives hope, makes us want to work hard. I will wait for such a moment in life. Everyone has to wait for it, and it is inevitable if we work sincerely towards our goals," the filmmaker said.
Coming back to Love Insurance Kompany, the film is set in a futuristic world where a youngster (Pradeep) is trying to prove that a software application cannot replace the human connection in love.
