Ken Karunaas has been riding high on the fame and success of his latest film Youth, which he starred and directed for the first time. The film recently earned over Rs 50 crore at the box office worldwide, marking his footprint as an up-and-coming promising filmmaker.
During the success and thanksgiving meet, the film's producer Karuppiah C Ram expressed his happiness and pride at Youth's success and praised Ken. Revealing his biggest 'gift' to the actor-turned-filmmaker, he said, "Many asked me what I would be gifting Ken following the success of the film. They probed me whether I would buy him a private jet, helicopter or a swanky car. But the truth is, I gave him a gift as soon as I heard the story of the film as I knew it would become a hit."
"That is the inception of Street Boy Studios. In this company, whatever film you make, we will make the director a producer and give them a percentage of the film. Through this initiative, we want them to own the project and release it. That is our motto. We are going to do this regularly with other filmmakers also. I am aware of the hurdles and struggles that upcoming directors face as I have also faced similar situations. The vision is his, and only the support comes from us. We would always want to stand by that," he explained, adding that everyone has a life in the film industry despite their successes or failures.
Youth revolves around Praveen (Ken), a high-schooler who falls in love with three women: Anshima Anilkumar, Meenakshi Dinesh and Priyanshi Yadav. The resultant chaos and comedy that unfolds, forms the core of the film. Upon releasing in theatres on March 19, the film was met with positive reviews from audiences and critics.
The comedy entertainer also stars Devadarshini and Suraj Venjaramoodu, among others. On the technical front, the film has music by GV Prakash, cinematographer Viki and editor Nash.
The film is produced by Karuppiah C Ram and Sulochana Kumar under their banners Paarvathaa Entertainments and Street Boy Studios, respectively.
