Rana Daggubati, who is distributing the upcoming film Neelira through his banner Spirit Media, recently spoke about his company's distribution model. With Neelira being set for its release soon, the actor spoke about the strategy behind distributing films such as this, Sabar Bonda, and All We Imagine as Light.

Speaking to Galatta Plus, Rana said that his company finds out the target audience of the film they are backing and figures out a distribution model accordingly. For example, he revealed that Spirit Media had All We Imagine as Light released in theatres situated nearby hospitals because the film explores the relationship between two nurses and their love lives.

Rana Daggubati said that it takes more time to ensure that such films reach out to the wider audience through word of mouth.

Speaking about Sabar Bonda, he said that the audience for it can be classified into two: Those who seek the reflection of life realities that commercial cinema does not and viewers who have a habit of watching European cinema with subtitles. "That is the community that started taking a liking to cinema like this," he said, referring to the viewers of European cinema.

"The real exercise for us is to find where those audiences are," the actor said before adding that films tend to fare well in some screens of the same city and not as well in others. "This means that the audience who likes the cinema lives there. Our entire structure in distribution is about finding the places where these audiences are and making sure that they have enough convenient shows."

He also said that distributors such as Spirit Media should fight for shows occupied by popular movies. "Neelira will be a far more deeper film that way because there is an entire state of Tamil Nadu that resonates with the cause itself," he opined.

Rana also said that it takes longer for such films that spark a discussion in society to start making money. "All We Imagine started picking up from the fourth week onwards," he revealed.
