As Dhanush's directorial film Idli Kadai is set to release on October 1, the makers have announced that the final version of the film has been finalised following the completion of the re-recording works. It is worth noting that the team is on a whirlwind promotion tour across Tamil Nadu.

Idli Kadai, Dhanush's fourth directorial after Pa Paandi, Raayan, and Nilavukku Enmel Ennadi Kobam, stars his Thiruchitrambalam collaborator Nithya Menen. The stellar ensemble comprises Arun Vijay, Rajkiran, Sathyaraj, Geetha Kailasam, Samuthirakani, Parthiban, and Shalini Pandey.
Going by the recently released trailer, it is understood that Murugan (Dhanush) is running from pillar to post to revive his father's idli shop in a small village. To accomplish that, he needs to overcome the antagonist Ashwin, played by Arun Vijay. It is unclear why the idli shop is so important to Murugan and what the conflict is between him and Ashwin.
Dhanush's home banner, Wunderbar Studios, is producing the drama along with Aakash Bhaskaran of Dawn Pictures. Dhanush's frequent collaborator, GV Prakash, who recently worked with him on Nilavukku Enmel Ennadi Kobam, is the music composer for the film. The film's cinematography is managed by Kiran Koushik, with editing by Prasanna GK.
