Actor Robo Shankar, known for his popular comedic roles in Tamil television and films, has been admitted to the intensive care unit of a private hospital in Chennai after collapsing on the set of a film.
The incident occurred on Monday during the shoot of a recently launched project. Following a variation in his blood pressure, doctors conducted preliminary tests and moved him to the ICU for close observation. Sources say his condition remains critical, and a team of specialists is monitoring him around the clock. The health scare is believed to be linked to complications from his earlier medical issues.
Robo Shankar had recently battled jaundice, for which he underwent prolonged treatment. His significant weight loss during recovery had already raised concerns among fans. Despite this, he made a quick return to television and film commitments.
The actor, who is also a well-known mimicry artist, became a household name after his robot dances in shows became popular. He debuted in films with Idharkuthane Aasaipattai Balakumara (2013). He later earned fame through his roles in Vaayai Moodi Pesavum (2014) and Maari (2015). This year, he acted in Vemal's Desingu Raja 2 and Sotta Sotta Nanaiyuthu.
