Amid soaring anticipation, Sivakarthikeyan's Madharaasi hit theatres on Friday. Ahead of the film's first release in Tamil Nadu, many caught an earlier show to catch a glimpse of the actor and AR Murugadoss' return to Tamil cinema on the big screen.

Many have hailed the filmmaker's actioner as "entertaining" and "engaging" with positive notes on the symbolism of guns and its usage in the staging of the film. Sivakarthikeyan's acting has been receiving immense praise from fans and critics, with special emphasis on his romantic portions with Rukmini Vasanth.

Known for his action blocks in many of films, social media users pointed out that Murugadoss' strength hadn't waned and are praising his placing of fight sequences. Additionally, several users have underlined the madness of the pre-intermission scenes. With all these positives, many are hailing Madharaasi as a comeback for AR Murugadoss, who last made Rajinikanth's Darbar in 2020. Vidyut Jammwal has also been receiving appreciation for his screen presence and for playing a fiery villain after many years.

On the other hand, Madharaasi has also been receiving criticism for its predictability that wears down its screenplay. Despite a promising start, many are stating that its execution falls short and narration becomes weak. The second half, especially, has been disappointing fans for losing steam and are noting that it is stretched in many parts. Anirudh's songs and BGM has also been coming under flak for not aiding to the storyline.

Despite these flaws, Madharaasi is slated to open with massive box office numbers owing to Sivakarthikeyan and AR Murugadoss' presence. The director last made Salman Khan's Sikandar which was released earlier this year to mixed and poor reviews.

Biju Menon, Vikranth and Shabeer Kallarakkal in the lead roles, alongside Prem Kumar, Sanjay and Sachana Namidass. Vidyut is reuniting with Murugadoss after Thuppakki (2012).

The technical crew of the film includes Anirudh as the music composer, Sudeep Elamon as the cinematographer, and Sreekar Prasad as the editor.
