Noted lyricist Snehan took to his social media handles to announce that his father Shivashangu Kodumpurar had passed away on Monday at the age of 102. While he didn't inform the cause of his death, it is being reported that his father died after suffering from prolonged age-related illnesses. Sharing the sad news to his friends, family and members of the film industry, he said that his father's last rites will be held on Tuesday, October 28 at 11 am in his hometown Pudu Kariapatti in Thanjavur. Condolences have been pouring in from social media users and his fans since the time he announced the news.
Snehan has built an impressive repertoire as a talented lyricist over a career spanning 28 years. He began working as a lyricist in the film Putham Pudhiya Poove (1997) and has since then penned lyrics for more than 2500 songs and has worked in more than 750 films. He had joined Kamal Haasan's Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) in 2018 and contested from Sivaganga during the 2019 general elections.
He has also appeared as an actor and made his acting debut with Yogi (2009). He played brief roles in Uyarthiru 420 (2011), Comali (2019) and Bhoomi (2021), among others. Snehan further rose to fame with his performance in Bigg Boss Tamil season 1 (2017) where he emerged as the finalist and won praise from the audience. It is to be noted that in the same season, his father surprised him by meeting the lyricist at the Bigg Boss house.
He was also a part of Bigg Boss Ultimate season 1 (2022). A few years back, Snehan had married actor Kannika. They are now parents to twin girls.
