RJ Balaji, who is busy with the production of Suriya's upcoming film Karuppu, has denied any involvement in the sequel to Nayanthara's Mookuthi Amman, which is being helmed by Sundar C. Speaking to reporters at the Tiruchendur temple, the actor-director said that he is not involved in the film in any way. "While I did direct the first film, I am not associated with the sequel. They informed me before starting the film which I am happy about and I convey my best wishes to the team," he said.
When probed about a production update to his much-awaited film with Suriya, he revealed that three-fourth of the film has been completed. "Editing has also been wrapped. I am waiting to the right release date to share it with the world. Karuppu will make everyone happy," he added.
Karuppu also stars Trisha, Indrans, Mansoor Ali Khan, Natty, Swaswika, Anagha Maya Ravi, Supreeth Reddy, and Sshivada, among others. It is produced by Dream Warrior Pictures' SR Prakash Babu and SR Prabhu and has music by Sai Abhyankkar‬.
The teaser, which was released in July, presented Suriya in a 'mass' avatar. The actor seemed to be playing a lawyer in the film which is set in a rural backdrop. He is looked at as a saviour, an almost deity-like who delivers justice to commonfolk. It has been heavily speculated that RJ Balaji is looking at releasing the film for the upcoming festive season of Pongal. If it does, it will clash with Vijay's Jana Nayagan.
Meanwhile, Mookuthi Amman 2's cast comprises Duniya Vijay, Regina Cassandra, Suneel, Yogi Babu, Abhinaya, Ineya, Garuda Raam, Singampuli, Vichu Vishwanath, Ajay Ghosh, and Myna Nandhini, among others. Noted Kannada actor Duniya Vijay plays the antagonist in it. The film sees the return of Nayanthara as the titular 'Amman'. Much details about the story and release date are currently under wraps.
It has Sundar C's frequent collaborator, Hip Hop Tamizha Adhi composing music and is backed by Ishari Ganesh of Vels Films International and will also be co-produced by Sundar C-Khushbu Sundar's Avni Cinemax Pvt Limited, Nayanthara-Vignesh Shivan's Rowdy Pictures, and Ivy Entertainment.
