Director-actor Selvaraghavan, who will next play the antagonist in Vishnu Vishal-led thriller Aaryan, said that the films are so superficial in depicting intimacy.
In an interview with Galatta Plus, the filmmaker answered a question on why films either stay quiet or make fun of intimacy and sex. He replied, saying that they lack the courage to bring authenticity to such emotions, and they would rather settle for a superficial depiction that would not upset anyone. Elaborating on it, he said he wonders how a filmmaker can make love stories one after another with little to no improvement in the writing. "Filmmakers play to the gallery and make such run-of-the-mill films out of sheer personal commitments towards their spouse and children. Works coming out of such commitments kill creativity. More than trying to convince anyone, filmmakers should write to please themselves first."
The investigation thriller, directed by Praveen K, also stars Maanasa Choudhary.
Produced by Vishnu Vishal's Vishnu Vishal Studioz, Aaryan is penned by the actor's FIR collaborator Manu Anand. The film's technical crew has changed, with Harish Kannan now taking over as the cinematographer from Vishnu Subash. The team also includes music composer Sam CS and editor San Lokesh.
Apart from Tamil, the film is set to release in Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi on October 31.
