Pradeep Ranganathan's latest romantic action-comedy Dude is showing no signs of slowing down at the box office. Across India, the film has consistently earned Rs 10 crore each day since its release on October 17 and is continuing to maintain the momentum even after the holiday weekend, bringing its total to over Rs 51 crore, according to Sacnilk.com. Worldwide, the film had breached the Rs 80 crore mark on its fourth day itself, collecting over Rs 83 crore.
Dude earned over Rs 30 crore in its first weekend after adding Rs 9.75 crore on its opening day (friday), Rs 10.4 crore on day 2 and Rs 10.6 crore on day three. The film maintained the streak with its fourth and fifth day contributing over Rs 20 crore in total. With the current trend, the film is aiming at smashing the Rs 100 crore mark in a day or two.
While the Tamil version contributed significantly, the Telugu version continues to hold steady despite competition from new regional releases, cementing the audience's growing interest in Pradeep Ranganathan's movies.
While the film was met with positive and mixed reviews upon release, Dude has been running with packed audiences in theatres. Our CE review of the film read, "Dude has a wacky infectious energy and uses it to make hard-hitting commentary on social themes but fails to leave a lasting impact." The film marked a significant milestone in Pradeep's career as it registered the highest opening in his career, surpassing his previous films Dragon and Love Today, which earned Rs 7.6 crore and Rs 2.85 crore respectively on their first day.
Directed by debutant Keerthiswaran, Dude also stars Mamitha Baiju, Sarath Kumar, Hridhu Haroon, Rohini, and Aishwarya Sharma. Produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y Ravi Shankar under Mythri Movie Makers, the film features music by Sai Abhyankkar in his Tamil cinema debut.
