Mari Selvaraj's latest sports drama Bison Kaalamaadan, starring Dhruv Vikram in the lead, has been holding strong with consistent revenue at the box office. At the end of its fifth day in theatres, the film had earned over Rs 22 crore in India. While it had a slow start with Rs 2.7 crore, the film quickly veered past hurdles to catch up in the race, collecting over Rs 5 crore each on Monday and Tuesday, thanks to positive word-of-mouth reviews and critical ratings for the filmmaker's portrayal of caste issues in sports and throwing light on the life of a kabaddi player who rises past these struggles.
Dhruv Vikram's performance has also been winning massive amount of praise. Although Dude continues to lead the box office by a wide margin with Rs 50 crore in five days, Bison’s trajectory shows that it’s steadily closing the gap in terms of momentum. The film’s steady rise across all days indicates that it may enjoy a longer theatrical run than expected.
Our CE review of the film read, "Bison is Mari Selvaraj’s most violent to date, and it is beautiful how the gore and bloodshed aren’t at the hands of the protagonist but everywhere around him. It is a terrific exploration of the aftermath of violence and its unsettling consequences in the minds of the young and easily influenced."
Produced by Pa Ranjith and Aditi Anand under Neelam Studios in association with Applause Entertainment, Bison also features Anupama Parameshwaran, Lal, Ameer, Pasupathi, and Rajisha Vijayan.
The technical crew of the film includes Ezhil Arasu K as the cinematographer, Sakthi Thiru as the editor, Kumar Gangappan as the art director, and Dhilip Subbarayan as the action choreographer.
