On the anniversary of poet Kannadasan's passing, actor-politician Kamal Haasan took to social media to remember Kannadasan. The poet passed away on October 17, 1981.

Taking to his X handle, Kamal wrote, "Sir, the news of your death is spreading today. A lot of people know that there is no death for epic poems. For me, whenever his poems are spoken, is a day of remembrance. The days I read his poems are his birthdays." He added, "There is no death of any form for you. My salutations to every living poet. Forever, yours truly."

The poet has made a lot of appearances in film. He appeared in K Balachandar's Apoorva Ragangal, as himself. The film starred Kamal Haasan in the lead, with Rajinikanth making his film debut. He has also appeared in Suryagandhi, where he is seen singing the song 'Paramasivan Kazhuthil', which was composed by MS Viswanathan and sung by TM Soundararajan.

Kannadasan was not only a poet but he was also a writer of short stories, novels, and books about religion and spirituality.
