Recently, we reported that Umapathy Ramaiah has been announced as the director of an upcoming film, backed by Kannan Ravi. On Friday, the film officially went on floors with a pooja ceremony. The film marks his second directorial after Rajakili and is billed to be a political satire laced with humour and entertainment.
Apart from Kannan Ravi, the film is also backed by Deepak Ravi, and Gantaara Studios is also backing the film. With Natty Subramaniam headlining the film, the cast also features Thambi Ramaiah, Shrrita Rao, Chandini Tamilarasan, Viji Chandrasekar, Vadivukkarasi, Ilavarasu, MS Bhaskar, Kingsley, John Vijay, Aadukalam Naren, VJ Andrews, Sathyan, Jawa Sunderasan (Chaams), Kingkong, and Devi Magesh, among others.
In an official statement, Umapathy Ramaiah said about the film, "It’s a privilege to collaborate with Kannan Ravi, whose passion for cinema makes him a true asset to the industry. This film will be an entertainer rooted in realism and humour. It’s great to have Natty sir playing the protagonist. Just a few minutes into the narration, he instantly agreed to do this film, which gave me immense satisfaction and a sense of responsibility to materialise the film as narrated. We have begun the shoot and are working towards wrapping it at the earliest.”
Further, producer Kannan Ravi said, “This film is a political satire that reflects contemporary situations with humour. Umapathy has already proved his versatility as a filmmaker, and when he narrated this script, it was instantly engrossing. Natty Subramaniam has emerged as a content-driven star and a producer-friendly actor, ensuring strong trade reception. It is an honour to work with National Award winners like Thambi Ramaiah and MS Bhaskar, along with such a talented cast. We are delighted to begin this journey today.”
Thambi Ramaiah has penned the story and dialogues for the yet-to-be-titled film, while Umapathy directs. The technical team includes PG Muthaiah as cinematographer, Darbuka Siva as composer, and Thangamani as editor. More details about the film's plot and release date are awaited.
