In a few hours, post the release of Idli Kadai, its star Parthiban took to social media to talk about the film. The film is written, directed, produced, and headlined by Dhanush.
In a letter addressed to Dhanush, Parthiban wrote, "Idli Kadai, which talks about the concept of ahimsai (non-violence), is a great film. The film can be awarded a Mahatma Award. By depicting violence, a film can earn 1000s of crores at the box office. But this is your crown. I will need a few days to talk about the greatness of each scene. Like your intentions, the film too, is great. I see the chance I got, to play a part in this film, as a great honour."
He captioned the tweet by saying, "I am happy to have played a role, which got a lot of applause, in Idly Kadai. In current times, even Mahatma Gandhi will be reluctant to make a film which has the message, 'Ahimsai Vellum' (Non-violence will win). The reason being that the colour of the box office is of blood." He adds, "Like telling a flower great things about its roots, it is commendable that the film reinforces the identity that the parents, ancestors, the kula dheivam (ancestral deity), hold. My eyes welled up at certain instances. My friend, Ilavarasu, shone as the character himself. GV (Prakash Kumar), has served a music that is as fresh as vapours emanating from a piping hot Idli. Dhanush should be celebrated."
Parthiban, who was among the throes of supporting actors, played the role of police officer, R Arivu, in the film. Idli Kadai released on October 1, a day before the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi.
