We had reported that after the success of Amaran, filmmaker Rajkumar Periasamy will team up with actor Dhanush for a project tentatively titled D55.
With Gopuram Cinemas announced to back the project, speculations have surfaced that the company has backed out owing to "a spike in production cost". Some reports suggest that Dhanush has stepped into producing the film under the Wunderbar Films, along with Kamal Haasan's Raaj Kamal Films International, the banner behind the Sivakarthikeyan starrer about martyred Major Mukund Varadarajan.
However, no parties from the film have yet to confirm or dismiss the speculations.
Dhanush's film Tere Ishk Mein, helmed by Aannand L Rai, released today to mixed to positive responses. The film that also stars Kriti Sanon marks Dhanush's third collaboration with Aanand L Rai, after Raanjhanaa and Atrangi Re. Tere Ishk Mein belongs to the Raanjhanaa universe.
Dhanush's next film, tentatively titled D54, is directed by Por Thozhil fame Vignesh Raja. Ishari K Ganesh of Vels Film International, who is producing D54, said early in October that the film has entered the post-production stage after wrapping the shoot and is eyeing a February release in 2026.
