At the pre-release event of Revolver Rita held on Tuesday, actor Keerthy Suresh spoke about her experience working on the dark comedy action film, which is gearing up for release on November 28.
Reflecting on her collaboration with debutant director JK Chandru, Keerthy said, “As you all know, Chandru has worked with Venkat sir as a writer and an assistant. I really liked his vision. When he first narrated the story of Revolver Rita to me, I laughed after many days. I immediately decided to take up the film. He made sure every artist felt comfortable, and I have never seen him get angry. He has a long way to go, and I truly wish him the best to make many more films like this. I am also grateful to him for choosing me to play Rita.”
She also spoke about sharing screen space for the first time with Radikaa Sarathkumar, who plays a key role in the film. “This is the first time I am working with Radhika ma'am onscreen, but I actually entered the industry with Idhu Enna Mayam, which was backed by her banner. I have known her for a long time, but on set she is like dynamite with so much fire in her. I feel fortunate to have had the chance to work with a senior like her. Our chemistry has come out very well in the film, and her character has been portrayed brilliantly.”
Describing the tone of Revolver Rita, Keerthy added, “Revolver Rita is a dark comedy. Someone asked me why so many characters have guns in a comedy film. This is a comedy action film, not a violent action film. It is something you can comfortably watch and enjoy with your family.”
The film marks Chandru’s return to direction more than a decade after Naveena Saraswathi Sabatham (2013). Along with Keerthy and Radikaa, the cast includes Redin Kingsley, Mime Gopi, Sendrayan, and veteran stunt master Super Subbarayan.
The technical team features cinematography by Dinesh Krishnan B, editing by Praveen KL, and production design by Vinoth Rajkumar. The film is produced by Sudhan Sundaram and Jagadish Palanisamy, with Aishwarya Suresh serving as the creative producer. The makers recently confirmed that the film has completed its censorship process and received a U/A 16+ certificate from the CBFC.
Following its theatrical run, Revolver Rita will make its digital debut on Netflix.
