The other day, Blue Star director S Jayakumar took to social media to congratulate the film's lead actor Shanthnu Bhagyaraj for winning best actor for his performance in the film at Australian Tamil International Film Festival. The film tells the story of a rivalry between two cricket teams in Arakkonam that has been going on for a long time. The film stars Shanthnu as Rajesh, the captain of one of the two rivalling factions, the other being the team led by Ashok Selvan's character Ranjith. In our Blue Star movie review, Prashanth Vallavan wrote, "Shanthnu’s Rajesh, in fact, has the most interesting character journey in the film and the director could have leveraged more out of him."
Jayakumar directed the film from a screenplay he wrote alongside Tamizh Prabha. Shanthnu is the sole winner from the sports drama's cast and crew at the international film festival in Australia. Meanwhile, the festival presented S Rathinasingam's Perfect Rascal with the Best Feature Film award. On the other hand, Sasikumar S won the Best Director Feature Film award for his work on Kuppan.
Coming back to Shanthnu Bhagyaraj, the actor was last seen as a character named Kumar in director Unni Sivalingam's Balti, co-starring Shane Nigam and Preethi Asrani. His upcoming projects include The Madras Mystery: Fall of a Superstar, co-starring Nazriya Nazim.
