The film went on floors with an official pooja ceremony on November 5 and also stars senior journalist Rangaraj Pandey and Brigida in key roles. While details of his role remain under wraps, this is the first time he will be taking on an acting role in his career. He also served as a lyricist for one song 'Achamenna Achamenna Aasai Thamizhey' from Vengayam (2011) directed by Sankagiri Rajkumar. While he was approached for roles in KV Anand's Ko and Suseenthiran's unreleased film, he had declined the offers.

Lakshmikanthan Kolai Vazhakku also features Saravanan, Lizzie Antony, Lollu Sabha Maran, Ilavarasu, and Kavitha Bharathi in supporting roles. The film will revolve around the sensational murder case of journalist Lakshmikanthan and the alleged involvement of actor MK Thyagaraja Bhagavathar.
