Three days since its release in theatres, Dulquer Salmaan's Kaantha has been having stagnant growth at the box office. While it started out at Rs 10 crores worldwide, it earned around Rs 4.35 crores in India on day 1. On day 2, the collections slightly improved, with the film earning Rs 5 crores, taking the overall total to around Rs 10 crores in India alone.

On day 3, however, the film has come back to its initial numbers, as it has collected around Rs 4.35 crores as per early estimates on Sacnilk.com. This number takes the total to Rs 13.22 crores. Chennai has contributed most to the box office, with both the Tamil and Telugu versions of the film having maximum occupancy in the city. Puducherry and Trichy contribute more to the Tamil version after Chennai. For the Telugu version, Warangal and Hyderabad have the most audiences for the period drama.

Rana Daggubati: My Kaantha character carries a lot of influences from Agatha Christie and other older classics

Helmed by Selvamani Selvaraj, Kaantha also stars Samuthirakani, Bhagyashri Borse and Rana Daggubati in prominent roles. The film also features Ravindra Vijay, Nizhalgal Ravi, Bagavathi Perumal and Bijesh Nagesh in key roles. The film is jointly produced by Rana Daggubati and Dulquer Salmaan under their Spirit Media and Wayfarer Films banners, respectively.  Kaantha, which marks a comeback into Tamil cinema for Dulquer after 2022's Hey Sinamika, is inspired by the rise and fall of MK Thyagaraja Bhagavathar, who was widely regarded as Tamil cinema's first superstar.

Our CE review of the film by Avinash Ramachandran read, "While we feel enamoured by the visual grandeur of this world, one can’t help but feel a sense of exhaustion from the world-building that might even make one forget that the film began with a murder.  Kaantha goes to so many places that the cold-blooded murder gets buried under the visual and aural splendour and performances that you can’t take your eyes off."

The film's technical team includes cinematographer Dani Sanchez Lopez, editor Llewellyn Anthony Gonsalvez, composer Jhanu Chanthar, and art director Ramalingam. Thamizh Prabha serves as its additional dialogue writer and story consultant, as well as an additional screenwriter along with Sri Harsha Rameshwaram.
