The grandson of actor MK Thyagaraja Bhagavathar, B Thiagarajan, has filed a plea with the Madras High Court against the upcoming film Kaantha. The film starring Dulquer Salmaan, who also produces along with Rana Daggubati, is set to release theatrically on November 14.

According to Live Law, Thiagarajan has argued that his grandfather has been portrayed as a person who lived with loose morals, became blind, and died of penury, was false. He further argued that his grandfather was a person of sound morals, who lived his live with great compassion, and as a teetollar, who in death, had lived a life with no need for financial help.

Thiagarajan's plea also stated that the makers haven't sought permission from him, as producers who make film based on real life personalities are bound to do so from the living heirs of those personalities. He argued that even with the change of names, the recalling of such a personality, will be damaging to the memory of MK Thyagaraja Bhagavathar.

In summary, the plea seeks a permenant injunction against showcasing the film in any form. It also seeks to restrain the makers of the film to portray MK Thyagaraja Bhagavathar as a man with loose morals.

Kaantha is written and directed by Selvamani Selvaraj. The cast of the film also includes Samuthirakani, Bhagyashri Borse, and Rana Daggubati, among others.
