Actor Kishore, who will up next be headlining two films in Tamil: Mellisai and IPL, revealed in an interview to TNIE that he was supposed to play Rajan, which was essayed by Ameer, in Vetri Maaran-Dhanush's Vada Chennai (2018).
In the conversation, he said that Vetri Maaran did not plan Vada Chennai as Anbu taking the baton from Rajan and that he had a lot of ideas about the world at its nascent stage. "Initially, I was about to play Rajan, then Guna, and only later ended up playing Senthil. Like I said, Vetri gets ideas all the time. The story at first was not about Anbu taking the reins from Rajan."
He went on to add that it was a bittersweet experience for him watching Vada Chennai in the theatre, as many scenes he was excited about did not make the final cut. "He (Vetri) conceived Vada Chennai like a series, when it wasn't in vogue here. So through the interview, I request him to release the remainder of the footage soon in any format he sees fit."
Kishore also answered affirmatively to the question of whether he would return as Senthil in Silambarasan TR's Arasan. He said he is waiting for Vetri Maaran to call him for the upcoming movie, which is based on the world of Vada Chennai.
With Subatra Robert, known for her roles in Pariyerum Perumal, Jai Bhim, and Bommai Nayagi, as the female lead, Mellisai's ensemble cast includes George Mariyan, Harish Uthaman, Jaswant Manikandan, Dhananya, Proactive Prabakar, Kannan Bharati, and others.
Mellisai boasts a technical team, with Shankar Rangarajan composing the music and Devaraj Pugazhendi handling cinematography. Director Dhirav, like in his previous films, will also be penning the lyrics in the movie. He is also producing the film under the Hashtag FDFS banner.
