
Opened to mixed to positive responses, reports and trackers say that Soori's recent family drama Maaman has grossed over Rs 30 crore in theatres.
Terming the film a 'runaway blockbuster', tracker Sreedhar Pillai said the film has earned over Rs 30 crore in Tamil Nadu in 11 days and is poised to cross Rs 40 after the second week, and that the film is performing well in B and C centres.
Box-office tracking website Sacnilk reported that the film's net earnings after 10 days of run was Rs 23.95 crore. The website reported that the film had a footfall of 27.50% on the eleventh day with Tier 2 cities like Tiruchy and Dindigul recording an impressive occupancy of 51.75% and 50.50% respectively.
Helmed by Prasanth Pandiyaraj, Maaman, which released in theatres on May 16, also starred Aishwarya Lekshmi, Swasika, Rajkiran, Vimal, Baba Baskar, Master Prageeth Sivan, Bala Saravanan, Jaya Prakash, Viji Chandrasekar, Geetha Kailasam, Chaya Devi, Nikhila Sankar, and Kalaivani Bhaskar.
Lark Studios’ K Kumar, who previously backed Soori’s Garudan, is the producer of Maaman, which features cinematography by Dinesh Purushothaman and editor Ganesh Shiva.
