Suriya donates 10 crore from Retro profits to Agaram Foundation

According to a report from News18, Suriya has given 10 crore from the profit of his film Retro to his NGO Agaram Foundation. As per data from Sacnilk, the Karthik Subbaraj directorial has earned a net collection of around 51 crore in India. Reportedly, the film has crossed the 100-crore mark at the global box office.

Also starring Pooja Hegde, Joju George, Nassar, and Prakash Raj, among others, Retro tells the story of a gangster (Suriya) looking to leave his violent past behind. The film released on May 01 in theatres, alongside Nani's HIT: The Third Case, Ajay Devgn's Raid 2, and Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts*. It opened to mixed reviews from audiences and critics.

An excerpt from our review of the film reads, "The biggest frustration with Retro remains to be that it fails to recognise and respect its own light before aiming for the sun. Karthik tries to unsuccessfully tie three great wildly different ideas: Love, Laughter, and War. And perhaps, for Retro, like how it is for life itself, love alone would have sufficed."
