Ilaiyaraaja on Operation Sindoor: 'Where goes the king, there goes the people'

Hours after India launched Operation Sindoor to destroy terrorism infrastructure and kill terrorists in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and the nation's neighbour and arch rival, many celebrities expressed their support for the move. The latest to do so is composer Ilaiyaraaja, who took to X and wrote, "Where goes the king, there goes the people." The composer also added Operation Sindoor to his tweet with a hashtag.

Ilaiyaraaja's comment comes not long after the composer praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership in the GDP Podcast with host Sharat Bhattatiripad. "I was surprised that I got the Padma Vibhushan... because of our PM. He is very kind to me," Ilaiyaraaja said back then. The composer added that he met the PM for the first time in the party following the Padma Vibhushan ceremony. He also revealed that he told Modi that he would like to see the PM "rule India for another 20 years."

Ilaiyaraaja recently presented his first Western classical symphony titled Valiant at the Eventim Apollo Theatre in London, alongside the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. With Valiant, he became the first musician from Asia with a background in cinema to achieve this milestone in London.
