Martial artist and Karate exponent Shihan Hussaini, who has trained actors such as Pawan Kalyan and Vijay in martial arts, is currently suffering from blood cancer.

In a recent interview, Hussaini, who has also made a few appearances in films, said he requires two units of blood on a daily basis to stay alive, and it is not possible to keep continuing like this. He said, "I wouldn't live longer. I am selling my training centre for treatment; rather than some random person buying it and building an apartment, I would rather want my student Pawan Kalyan to buy the building and continue keeping it as a martial arts centre. My request to Vijay is that he should ensure there is at least one archer in every home in Tamil Nadu."

Hussaini mentored Vijay in Badri, where the actor will be seen going under rigorous training to become a boxer. Badri is the Tamil remake of Pawan Kalyan starrer Thammudu, which is inspired by Breaking Away (1979). Pawan Kalyan earned a black belt in Karate under the training of Hussaini, who was unaware for several months that he was Chiranjeevi's brother, as Pawan stayed with him to learn the martial art during the 90s.

Hussaini made his first film appearance in the Kamal Haasan starrer Punnagai Mannan (1986). He was also a part of Rajinikanth films Velaikaran (1987) and Bloodstone (1988), and Sarathkumar's Vedan (1993). He was last seen in Vignesh Shivan's Kaathu Vaakula Rendu Kaadhal (2022), starring Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara, and Samantha.
