The makers of Netflix film Test, starring Madhavan, Siddharth, and Nayanthara, dropped the first single 'Arena' on Tuesday.
Though not mentioned as the theme, the song, as its title suggests, serves as one. 'Arena' pays tribute to India's star cricketers, both present and past. Composed by Shakthisree Gopalan, the chorus song is sung by Shyam Krishna, Manikandan Chembai, Shridhar Ramesh, Yazhini, Rutuja Pande, Krishaang RP, Sivaranjini Chandramouli, Ahana Balaji, Sukhi Bhava Arjun, and Keerthana Sriram. The rap portions were written and sung by Yogi B.
Sashikanth, producer of YNOT Studios, is making his directorial debut with Test, which also stars Meera Jasmine in the lead role. The film, which revolves around an aspiring cricketer and a family, is also produced by the director.
The previously unveiled teaser of Test featured Siddharth and Meera Jasmine as a couple and Madhavan and Nayanthara as another couple. While Siddharth is an aspiring cricketer, Madhavan and Nayanthara seem to come from a middle-class background.
The official synopsis of the film, as per a press note, reads, "In a game where the stakes are personal and the consequences unforgettable, every move matters. One moment, one choice—that’s all it takes to be the hero or the villain. This unmissable Tamil film isn’t just about the game; it’s about the Test life throws at you."
Playback singer and musician Shakthishree Gopalan is making her debut as a music director with Test. The technical crew also comprises editor TS Suresh, cinematographer Viraj Sinh Gohil, and sports director Dhruv Panjuani.
Apart from Tamil, Test will also be released in Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi at April 4 on Netflix.
