Actors Vaibhav and Sunil's upcoming film, Perusu, has cleared censorship formalities with an 'A' certificate. On Wednesday, the film's producer, Karthik Subbaraj, took to his official X account to share the news along with a video featuring the film's cast and producers discussing the censorship certification. In the video, the entire cast promises that the film will be a clean adult comedy entertainer.
Directed by Sri Lankan filmmaker Ilango Ram, the film is backed by Baweja Studios alongside Karthik Subbaraj's Stone Bench Films. Ilango Ram, known for his critically acclaimed films Tentigo and Rabbit Hole, has now remade the former as Perusu. Tentigo is a Sinhalese comedy-drama that won a Special Jury Award at the 2023 Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival.
Tentigo tells the story of two brothers dealing with the sudden loss of their father, only to be shocked by an awkward and embarrassing discovery. As they try to handle the situation discreetly before the funeral, their attempts to conceal the truth lead to chaos, forcing them to confront their own strained relationship and uncover their father's hidden secrets.
The cast of Perusu also includes Redin Kingsley, Niharika NM, Bala Saravanan, Karunakaran and Chandini Tamilarasan, among others. The technical crew of the film comprises Arun Raj for music, Sathya Thilakam for cinematography, Sooriya Kumaraguru for editing, and Sunil Villuwamangalath for art direction.
Perusu will be released in Tamil and also dubbed in Telugu as Pedha. The film is all set to hit theatres on March 14, alongside Rio Raj's Sweetheart.
